Hello, English learners! My name is Yolande and I am so excited to start your journey to learn English with you. I have spent many years travelling across the globe, living in various places. I was born and raised in South Africa, but lived in Chicago for a year, the Caribbean for two years and then in England for almost twelve years. Six years ago, I decided to move to the most beautiful city in South Africa: Cape Town. I operate a business from home and have to children, aged 9 and 11. While working in the financial sector in England, I was involved in an English teaching project to teach English to immigrant children. The children would arrive in England from foreign countries, unable to speak the language and would therefore struggle at school. They could not get assistance from their parents, as they were also unable to speak English. So this led to another adult learning project that I implemented, to teach English to their parents too. I am passionate about languages and being able to either teach what I know to others, or to learn new languages myself. It is heart warming to have students in my class, or for private lessons, who are eager and willing to learn. I look forward to meeting you. :o)
